Solanum – Tomato – Roma
$4.00
The Roma Tomato, scientifically known as Solanum lycopersicum, is a well-known and versatile tomato variety that is highly valued for its meaty texture and rich flavour. It is a determinate-type tomato, meaning it grows to a compact size and produces fruit in a concentrated period.
When selecting a position for planting Roma Tomato, choose a location that receives full sun, as tomatoes require at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight each day for optimal growth and fruiting. The soil should be well-drained and fertile, with a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0, providing the ideal conditions for healthy plant development.
For spacing, Roma Tomato plants should be planted approximately 45 to 60 centimetres apart in rows that are spaced around 90 to 120 centimetres apart. This spacing allows enough room for the plants to grow and ensures adequate airflow, reducing the risk of diseases. The first
harvest of Roma Tomatoes can typically be expected around 70 to 80 days after transplanting, depending on the growing conditions and climate.
